How can you find a good Travel Agent for booking a cruise?

In: Cruises
[Edit]

Answer

The travel industry has several designations that help identify agents who are knowledgeable about cruises. The Travel Agent you choose should be either an: ACC (Accredited Cruise Counselor), MCC (Master Cruise Counselor), or ECC (Elite Cruise Counselor) with the CLIA, an industry association.

You should also request an Agent who is a top producer with the cruise line you choose. Someone who books 10,000 Carnival cruises a year has more than 100 times the clout of someone who books only 100 Carnival cruises per year. They can use that clout to negotiate better prices, get free upgrades or amenities, or resolve problems if one develops.

A good Travel Agent is always responsive. They should get back to you within 1 business day, whether you communicate by phone or email. They should be able to answer your questions about the cruise. Many top Travel Agents are home-based, so as long as you are getting good service, don’t let it bother you if a toddler is singing in the background.
