Geology has become my passion as a result of, all things, my involvement with my daughter in all things scientific. When we'd go to a playground, she'd be finding little bits of fossils in the gravel. This led to 4-H projects with a geology theme, which led to meetings with university geologists, which led to Geological Survey field trips, which led to geology based vacations, and so on and so on. Hopelessly hooked, I have rocks and minerals on display in the house, in the garage, and in the yard. Now 16 years old, my daughter's interests have waned (although she knows more about rocks and minerals than the majority of people will ever want to know), but I keep marching on.
