American Revolution (1775-1783) entered 1775
War of 1812 (1812-1815) entered 1812
Mexican War(1848?-1849?) entered 1848
Civil War (1861-1865) entered 1861
Spanish-American War (1898?-1900?) entered 1898
World War 1 (1914-1918) entered 1917
World War 2 (1939-1945) entered 1941
Korean War (1948-1952) entered 1948 - This war is not over. There has only been a cease fire for 50+ years. The U.S. military has been on high alert several times since in South Korea and you here North Korea all the time flexing. Did you do any research at all?
Vietnamese War (1965-1976?) entered in '65? sent "military advisers" in 50s.
Persian Gulf War (1991) entered 1991 - This was an operation not a war. The media is quick to call everything a war. Just like when someone breaks into your house when nobody is there is not robbery, its burglary.
Iraq War (2003-2008+) entered 2003 - This is not a war. This is an operation in the War on Terror which itself is not a war either since the President not Congress declared it.
Hope your wore your waders cause there is a thick pile of BS below:
While the war on poverty (1965- ?) is a humane effort, and is not associated with conventional warfare, there are two endeavors that cannot be classified as anything but war. The targets of these wars are not foreign nations, but American citizens who are too frequently victims of mistaken idenitity. Law enforcement forcefully enter the property, terrorizing the occupants of the dwelling, setting off mechanisms which envelope the property in flames, destroying everything. As the occupants attempt to escape, they are shot in the back by officers numerous times. These actions constitute a warfare. It has been suggested that these "war heroes" receive the same medals of honor presented to US military.
RE ABOVE STATEMENT:
Police Officers put their lives on the line everyday and they are truly not only heroes but also angels on our shoulders and if you get a ticket every now in then try obeying the law (I'm not a cop nor do I have any in my family, I actually use my brain). Obviously you don't have a bit of sense and you haven't done the research to answer this question. The War on Poverty? You want a better life then go out and earn it and quit taking hand outs. Everyone has a chance in the U.S. Whining about it won't get you out of the poor house. Of course there are some bad cops. There are bad firefighters, preachers, teachers, and world leaders. The fact that you judge and don't put your own self on the line to help those in need that you "care" about proves that you are part of the problem and not the solution. Adding it to an answer to a question about U.S. wars also proves that you don't have a bit of sense. The problems we have in the U.S. are major in our eyes but are minor when compared to the insanity that goes on in the world outside the U.S. You trade what you have for what you could have in Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe, and many other countries around the world. We'd love to see you leave. More action less talk.
War on Drugs (1971-Present)
War on Terrorism (2001-Present) - Again, not an actual war by U.S. laws or historical standards but they had to call it something. Putting 2001 also shows your ignorance. When have we not been at war with terrorism genius? Tell me the last time we said, "Hey terrorists! We love you and want you to come live with us here in America and blow up all of our buildings and kill all of our citizens?".
