While a few have been nominated for writing and acting, no male actor has ever won both. Billy Bob Thornton won Best Adapted Screenplay, Woody Allen won Best Original Screenplay (twice), Roberto Benigni won Best Actor, and there are a few other examples of actor/writers nominated in both categories.
Emma Thompson won an Oscar for Best Actress for Howards End (1992) and an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Sense and Sensibility (1995).
