What animal is at most risk because of global warming? In: Global Warming |

Answer
Humans, but not directly. Global warming itself, if it is really occurring, and if it continues, will be, for the most part, beneficial to humans, most other animal species, and virtually all plant species. However, if society follows the alarmists and takes serious steps to control global warming (Kyoto isn't serious), it will result in massive loss of human life. First due to hypothermia and heat stroke (because we won't be able to use heaters and air conditioners in our homes). Then there's war. You see, some nations will not voluntarily stop emitting carbon dioxide, and so, if we are serious about stopping global warming, we are going to have to FORCE them to do so. That means war. That means massive loss of human life. But not nearly as massive as that caused by starvation when we have to give up tractors and fertilizers (which both require fossil fuels) and food production decreases to a small fraction of what it is now. I suspect that, all told, if the world takes serious steps to stop global warming, the world's total human population will decline by 90-95%. The remaining 5-10% will be living in stone-age conditions, without cars, electricity, or any of the modern-day conveniences we take for granted but which require fossil fuels.
