What are chakras? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Chakras are vortices of energy in the etheric body of every man, woman and child. Through these chakras - Mind Energy enters which travel via the cerebro-spinal system to the Brain where they are translated as usable impulses.
These chakras resemble little flood gates which allow 'mind stuff' or mind energy to be absorbed into the individual from the great sea of mind which permeates and surrounds all things.
Now, mind has many aspects and operates on many different frequencies and the lower chakras or psychic centres have a particular power of attraction which allows the lower aspects of mind energy to be understood.
The higher chakras pick up those aspects of mind which vibrate at a higher frequency range .
All the time we are being bombarded by very high vibrations of mind energy but we can normally only understand those impulses which travel slow enough to be absorbed by our subtle cerebro-spinal system.
In addition to taking in energy and mind from outside, some of these centres also radiate magnetic energy outwards from within.
The human body has numerous chakras throughout the body.
The major centres are connected to the spine directly whereas the minor centres are connected indirectly throught the subtle nervous system to the spine.
Answer
Chakra is a Sanskrit term meaning circle or wheel. It is a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. The word chakra refers to a spinning sphere of bioenergetic activity emanating from the major nerves branching from the spinal column. There are six of these wheels stacked in a column of energy that spans from the base of the spine to the middle of the forehead. And the seventh which is beyond the physical region.
The primary chakras are:
1. Muladhara - lower body
2. Swadhisthana - reproductive parts
3. Manipura - navel
4. Anahata - heart
5. Vishuddha - throat
6. Ajna - eyebrow or forehead
7. Sahasrara - top of head
The seven principal chakras are said to reflect how the unified consciousness of humanity is divided to manage different aspects of earthly life (body/instinct/vital energy/deeper emotions/communication/having an overview of life/contact to God). The chakras are thought to vitalize the physical body and to be associated with interactions of a physical, emotional and mental nature. The function of the chakras is to spin and draw in this energy to keep the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health of the body in balance.
An alternative view is the chakras are a physical part of the body, the root nerves. there are twelve root nerves, which come in pairs...which is 6 pairs. The 7th chakra or 'nerve' is eternity/cosmos/the outside
