Crucible tongs are welded steel tools used to lift a hot crucible from a furnace or for other items you may not want to handle with your hands.
There are also other kinds of tongs:
Lab tongs can be used to hold or pick up many items, but work best as tongs for picking up a hot evaporating dish.
Beaker tongs are best used to hold a hot beaker.
