What are some ways to increase your track and field running speeds?

Improving Running Speeds

Running coach. Use ankle weights during practice. Proper diet and hydration ie: eating right and getting enough water increases muscle tone and stamina. Good shoes. Correct clothes. etc.

Note: Ankle weights are one of the faster ways to injure yourself if not used carefully. It is however a good idea to use them outside of practice.

I'd stay away from ankle weights. Maybe hit the weights in a gym, but ankle weights can cause serious injuries, bad running form, and really don't give much benefit. To run faster, you have to practice at faster running speeds. No shortcuts, just good ole hard work?
