What are the five main deserts located in Australia?

There are a number of deserts in Australia. In order of size, they are:

  • Great Victoria Desert (Western Australia) - 348,750 km2
  • Great Sandy Desert (Western Australia) - 267,250 km2
  • Tanami Desert (Western Australia and Northern Territory) - 184,500 km2
  • Simpson Desert (Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia) - 176,500 km2
  • Gibson Desert (Western Australia) - 156,000 km2

There are also a number of smaller, but significant, deserts, including the Little Sandy Desert, Strzelecki Desert and Sturt's Stony Desert. There are still more deserts, each less than 263875km2 in size.
