Answer
First stages involve ideas on what your building and where it is going. Research is a big factor. What is the cost or your budget. Meeting the local building code is important. Can you do your own electrical or plumbing? Many municipalites will not let you.
Currently, I am putting up a 22' x 33' 2nd floor addition. 95% alone. There are things that pop up that you don't always expect. The more planning the better. But eventually you have to move on it.
Getting the project to the drawing board halps you to figure your bill of materials and where you are running the electrical, plumbing etc. Knowing how to do this as well as what materials are required critical.
In NY state, if the cost is over $20,000, you need 2 sets of stamped drawings at grand or better. Davey@buffalo.com
