What classes do you need to take in high school in order to become a veterinarian?

Well, you definitely want to take advantage of every single science class your high school offers. If you're feeling especially ambitious you can check out your local community college's offerings - an anatomy class for instance (even though it would be about human anatomy, the concepts are the same).

It really depends on the university you plan to go to once you leave school but most schools need you to have English & Maths to a high GCSE level also.

In addition to classes, however, it is really important to get some experience. Volunteer opportunities are available at the zoo, county pet shelter, Humane Society, SPCA, pet rescue organizations, vet clinics and hospitals. You'll have to start small - handling paperwork, cleaning cages, etc - but you can ask for more responsibility as you learn more.
