I think it's a wonderful compliment. Your boyfriend loves you enough to dream of having children together. Get the ring on your finger! Take it slow; get engaged, get married, then work towards buying a little house and start your family (if that is what you want). Never let a man use this line to go to bed with you (if you haven't already.)
If your boyfriend should already have children, then watch out. Raising children is the hardest job a person can ever have and it can be exhausting at times. Some men get married quickly when they are the sole parent of children and it's to their benefit to get married or have a live-in girlfriend to look after their children. All men are not like this of course and it's truly love.
