What education or training do you need to become a psychiatrist?

[Edit]

Answer

A psychiatrist is able to prescribe medicine, like a proper doctor, so it would involve more education than becoming a psychologist or licensed counselor.

It will generally four years of pre-medical studies, then four years of medical school, generally but not always one year internship then three years of a psychiatric residency.
