What important things did the Persians do?In: Ancient History |
[Edit] |
[Edit]
Their percursors probable invented civilization.
The Persian Empire of 768 to 559 BC was, if not the greatest then one of three (Egypt and China) original great civilizations.
Unfortunately after that they just fought wars (loosing most of them). Hellenistic Persia became much like the Greeks (which they couldn't conquer) and influenced the areas around then (including the Romans).
Since then it's been sort of downhill, Genghis Khan essentially whipped out Persia in 1218.
In 1935 (post WW I) Iran was formed, mainly for and by the British.
