A hostess gift is a gift that you give the hostess. Usually when you attend family get together or other special occasions, someone had to do all the work in preparing the event. To show them your appreciation, you could bring the hostess a gift, to tell them thanks for their hard work and generosity. Giving a hostess gift is not mandatory but it usually shows good manners.
