What is a pyramid?

[Edit]
In mathematics, it is any three-dimensional polyhedron where the faces other than the base are triangular and converge at one point, called the apex.

The word is also extended from this to the constructs, most notably those in Egypt, that were built by earlier societies, and to the ones in South America built by early peoples there.
