Mostly they are used by surgeons during operations for cutting skin and other tissues but as an artist, I use one to sharpen my pencils and for precision cutting (paper, card, etc.)
It is a small, sharp knife used in performing surgeries and dissections.
They are also used by scientists for dissection.
