What is an HO model train?

[Edit]

Ho Model Train Answer

"HO" is just the brand of a model train.

Answer

Or it also be the scale of the train. I believe there use to be an "N" scale too. "N" was smaller, didn't take up as much room. But I pretty sure there were more accessories and related stuff for "HO" scale.

Actually...

HO is a gauge (or scale) for model trains. The name HO comes from the fact that it represents a reduction of half from the earlier O gauge ("Half O"), which was more popular in Europe. The ratio for HO gauge equipment is 1:87 which means that the HO tracks are 16.5mm apart, or 1/87th of a standard train track (1435mm).
