What is an iron ring clamp and a ring stand and how are they used? |
[Edit] |
Answer
An iron ring clamp is an iron ring with a clamp that holds glassware such as a funnel or other objects, such as a wire gauze or clay triangle for heating with a bunsen burner. Often, the ring clamp will be attached to a ring stand.
The ring stand is simply a metal rod attached to a heavy metal base. The heavy base keeps the stand stable, and the vertical metal rod allows for easy height adjustment of the iron ring clamp.
A tripod can sometimes be used in place of an iron ring and ring stand.
