AVERAGE in Texas is about 68k straight out of school (B.S.). I know smart people who have gone to work for Exxon or Shell for 90k+ after getting their B.S. Most people I talk to say getting an M.S. or even a PhD is worth it, financially, but only if you're studious in your academics.
-- from personal experience, i interned at shell base salary was 58k, that was approx 75% of entry level, so entry level is approx 76k + sign on bonus
It varies a lot between countries. In Switzerland you make about 5 000 € (8 000 $) per month as a MSc. In Sweden it is about 3 000 €, Denmark 4 000, norway 4500 €, Germany 4 000, England 3 000. Those are the countries I know of.
