What is the belief that Jesus existed but God doesn't?

In: Atheism
[Edit]

Answer

Presumably this means that you believe that Jesus was a real person. you would probably also believe that he was a man of high moral principles and a great teacher, but that he was not the son of God - because God does not exist.

It would be possible for an atheist to believe this. It would also be possible, say, for a Buddhist, a Taoist, a pagan or an animist to believe this, because they have beliefs about the existence of other gods, but not the Christian God.

Answer

There is some historical evidence that a man named Jesus may have existed around the first century. The evidence is highly dubious, but it's there. This in no way affects my non-belief in a god. I believe there was a man called Jim Jones that existed as well, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to be "drinking the Kool-Aid" any time soon either.

Answer

Jesus is God as man on Earth.

Answer

Most atheists believe Jesus existed, they just don't think he's divine.
