What is the diferrence between federal and state prison?

[Edit]

Answer

One of the big differences is who funds the facility. A state facility is state funded, etc.., etc.. Also many times a person who is convicted of a federal crime (typically an FBI investigation) is housed in a federal facility over a state facility.
