What is the difference between a university and a technology institute? |
[Edit] |
The Difference is the Area of Educational Emphasis
Universities such as Harvard, Yale, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Tulane and Texas tend to concentrate primarily, but not exclusively, upon LIBERAL ARTS and related curriculi. Law schools, Medical schools and Pharmacy schools are also found at these schools.
Technological Institutes such as MIT, Georgia Tech, Cal Tech, Rice and Texas A&M concentrate primarily upon Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering and other sorts of TECHNICAL studies.
Of course, some hybrids, for example Lousiana State University and Agricultural & Mechanical College at Baton Rouge (it's proper name instead of LSU) and Ohio State, offer both Liberal Arts and Technology curriculi.
