This is just a guess, but I would say it means "completely".

It's someone that's had freedom of doing what they want when they want without consequences until one day they wake up and find out that reality has smacked them square in the face and "being played dead straight" means no more fooling around and being honest with yourself. In other words "sit up and fly right" to no more "jacking around."
