The current world record for the heaviest bench press 1036 lbs (470kg) by Ryan Kennelly (USA). It must be noted that the different federations have subtly different rules on technique, the equipment that is allowed and whether performance enhancing drugs are tested for.
The heaviest "raw" bench press (without equipment such as bench shirts) is 715 lb (324.3kg) by Scot Mendelson.
The IPF world record (single ply bench shirt only) is 351kg (774 lbs), held by Brian Siders (USA).
