Prada, the Italian Designer house was originally known as Prada Brothers. It was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Milan. In 1978, Mario's granddaughter Miuccia Prada inherited the company from her mother and converted the leather goods business for fashion couture. Today, Prada is said to be the most prominent example of a new form of inward-directed luxury.
