What is the pH range of organic compost? In: Science, Organic Gardening |
[Edit] |
One site I just found says the pH of finished compost is 6.0 - 8.0
I have no idea if that is accurate or not, but perhaps thats the range you were looking for.
I am under the impression that the range will probably not be very specific. You could have more acidic or more basic of almost everything.
IN ADDITION:
A friend owns a clean landfill. This means only trees, clean soil, brush and clean concrete are allowed. He chips all the green matter and lets it compost. I was going to use this material for a soil conditioner until I had it tested. The pH came back as a 3. It was too low to be used for anything but a mulch.
The PH of the organic compost or any other compost will reflect the PH of the material composted.
