Tips
I work for a casino and I receive tips so I hope this answer helps. I often get asked how much I should be tipped, or if there is a requirement. The best answer I know of is, tip what you think is best. Tips are like putting a dollar amount on how well you liked the service. If you think that restaurant server deserves $10 for being polite, then give them $10, if they were rude, leave them next to nothing. However, there is a "scale" that is used in restaurants and other places of public service. The average percentage servers would like is 20%. However a lot of people find that to be a lot. Did the movers greet you politely? Did they damage anything? Did they do it in an expedited manner? Did they move your stuff into your new house the right way? Basically, rate their service. If they were excellent in all areas, tip all the movers around $20 each, or $10. But tipping a dollar is insulting. It does happen. People work hard for their money especially in public service and there's a lot of people out there who realize they can tip what they want and give just a dollar, or even less. In summary, tip on how you valued their service.
Tips for movers
I generally agree with the idea behind the answer above. However, to give our readers a better idea what kind of tips it is considered to be appropriate to give your movers (in case they did a good or satisfactory job) I recommend to use the Moving Tips Calculator (see link to the right).
