==new answer== Although there are many positive effects that science has upon society, the danger of dependency is that the individual who has such a dependence will wait on science to answer the questions rather than do personal searching and expanding the mind in a particular direction. The dependency upon religion has a similar effect. My own sister has just such an addiction which pretty much leaves her helpless. What I have to offer her is of little use since what I know in many ways conflicts with her religion. She is stuck in the stage of believing and does not feel she has the permission to know. In the universal language of mind or language of the soul, Jesus represents that part of us that knows. This is what he introduced, the knowing quality. In real terms, to honor his birth is to honor the birth of the knowing quality in me. It is that time in our development to allow the light of awareness to take hold.

During my studies at the School of Metaphysics, I learned how to prevent and cure the common cold through simple attitude adjustments and therefore for the last twenty years I have been able to skip the grocery isle for the normal cold remedies and have no need to visit a doctor at least for that reason. I have been to doctors for other reasons and appreciate them for aiding me in the ways in which I have yet to learn to correct myself. Rather than me having a total depency on medicine to solve occasional difficulties, I first look to how I am mis-using my thought processes which are what cause any malady.
