Either Quotations From Chairman Mao, or The Christian Bible are the all-time best selling book. Quotations with up to 6.5 billion printed and the Bible with 4 to 6 billion copies having been sold, though estimates vary. This includes all of the various editions and translations of the Bible, which is not under copyright.

As an added and possibly ironic twist the majority of book-sellers will tell you that the Bible is also one of the most frequently stolen books (along with dictionaries).

Quotations From Chairman Mao, which is popularly known as "Mao's Little Red Book" is either first, or a close second, with up to 6.5 billion copies printed. No other book comes close to either of these two.

The best-selling fiction book in the world is Don Quixote.
